Holy Saturday Meditation
Introduction:
The Vigil for Easter

Holy Saturday is the day after Jesus’ death. It is a day of mourning, vigil and hope.

Scripture:  Mk 16:1-8

Meditation
After Jesus’s burial there was confusion and  Jesus’ disciples could not do anything because by law you can not do anything during Sabbath.  No one could even visit the tomb on such a day. They could only wait  and pray.  As we relive the  events after Jesus burial, how do  you think His disciples went about their lives?  Like us , when a loved one dies, we have no choice but to mourn in silence. In our own lives, we face harsh stillness in our own grief and we feel our world stand still.  If you were there, what would you have done?

Journal Reflection
In today’s time, it is sad that Holy Saturday is not given much significance. The day  becomes the day preparation for the Easter celebration.  We do not take the needed time to reflect and grieve spiritually that Jesus saved us and died for us despite how sinful we are. As we reflect today, ask yourself am I worthy to be saved. Who am I as a person  that Jesus was willing to give His life for me and my sins? Reflect on the time where you had also sacrificed something important for someone. What was it? Who was it for? Was it worth it?

Prayer:
O God, grant that my renewed Faith strengthen my love  and compassion for myself and others.
